I fretted – Valentino Rockstud Caged Pump 65 mm are gorgeous, but are they worth it? Should I spend that much on shoes? I mean, they are on my feet and I can’t offer them the protection I would with a luxury handbag. What if it rains? For example, usually with my handbag, I can clasp it close, shield it with my jacket, and run like heck. How can I do that with shoes?
I read a ton of reviews … A ridiculous amount. I wondered if the would work with my lifestyle? For instance, I am not dainty or soft-footed. Will I break the heel cap off on the first day? You get it, it is a big investment!
Finally, I decided to go for it. After buying the Valentino Rockstud Caged Pump 65 I discovered they were worth every penny. Here is what I found:
1) Usually, I wear pretty tall heels so these were considerably lower, and not in a bad way – my feet were so comfortable;
2) The heel was tall enough to make my calf muscles and legs look lean and strong, but my feet were in heaven;
3) My foot was seated comfortably in the footbed from day one – no break-in time whatsoever;
4) They are gorgeous and looked like jewelry for my feet; and
5) They are well built and not easy to damage.
I was tempted to go for black or poudre, but ventured out of my comfort zone and went for the Rubin. Since I wear a ton of pinks and neutrals and they coordinate perfectly. Usually I wear a US size 7… I mean in every shoe, but that was not the case in the Rockstud. I went ahead and got a size 37.5 and they fit perfectly! In fact, I tried the 37 and the back of my foot was falling off the edge of the heel.
Once I got my shoes, I sprayed them with waterproofing spray to resist color transfer from my jeans and went on with my day. They were wonderful. I was able to walk for thirteen hours without any problems. I mean no pain at all. They also resist damage more than my non-luxury shoes. I wore them one day while walking around a cobblestone walkway for many hours and they still looked perfect. They remain perfect even after stepping through water puddles and being squished in my suitcase. I have owned the Valentino Rockstud Caged Pump 65 for some period of time and the cost per use has made them worth it.
